Dr. Mike Perkins, Head of Centre for Research & Innovation at British University Vietnam



Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mike Perkins serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Centre for Research & Innovation at British University Vietnam (BUV). With a PhD in Management from the University of York, he has emerged as a leading global voice on AI in assessment and the ethical integration of AI in education. Dr. Perkins is renowned for developing the AI Assessment Scale (AIAS), translated into more than 30 languages and implemented across more than 350 schools and universities worldwide. His work addresses the critical intersection of technology, academic integrity, and ethical implementation of AI in educational settings. He leads research in the equitable application of GenAI, and provides guidance to educators and policymakers responding to the challenges of the new GenAI landscape. Dr. Perkins' expertise has established him as a sought-after advisor to educational institutions globally, supporting them in ethically integrating Generative AI to enhance student learning while preserving academic integrity.

Patricia Baia, PhD, Assistant Dean of Teaching Effectiveness at Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law


Patricia Baia, PhD. is Touro Law's Assistant Dean of Teaching Effectiveness and an Adjunct Professor at Touro University’s Graduate School of Technology. In 2026, she was appointed AI Fellow for the Touro University’s Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning for 2026 and named Vevox’s top 50 voice to follow in higher ed. Dr. Baia supports faculty and departments in addressing complex teaching and learning issues related to instructional design (ID) and pedagogy as it relates to traditional, hybrid, and online courses. She functions to provide both professional development and day-to-day support for on-campus and off-campus instruction and engages in ongoing research to identify the tools/ assets to ensure faculty can launch best practices in their field. She serves on the Law School’s Curriculum Committee, Committee on Law School Success, Assessment Committee, and Accreditation Teams, and spearheaded Touro Law’s first interdisciplinary asynchronous courses. With over 25 years in higher education, Dr. Baia has designed more than 350 courses. Her approach emphasizes high-touch learning, interactivity, clear communication, and strong course organization. Her prior roles include Senior Instructional Designer at Touro Law, Instructional Design Manager Consultant at Aspen Publishing, Director of Online Learning and Instructional Technology at Albany Law School, Assistant Professor at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and lecturer at UC Irvine and the University at Albany.
 

Laura Dumin, AI Coodinator for the University of Central Oklahoma



Dr. Laura Dumin obtained her PhD in English from Oklahoma State University in 2010. She is a professor in English and Technical Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma who continues to explore the impact of generative AI on writing classrooms. She also runs a Facebook learning community to allow instructors to learn from each other https://www.facebook.com/groups/632930835501841 and has created a website for AI information and to share Creative Commons files with other instructors: https://ldumin157.com/. When she is not teaching, Laura directs the Technical Writing BA and is the faculty-facing AI Coordinator at UCO. She has created four micro-credentials for the Technical Writing program, one for faculty who complete her AI workshop on campus, and one for faculty to learn about AI in an asynchronous format

Nurun Nahar, Assistant Professor at The University of Greater Manchester


Nurun Nahar is an Assistant Professor of Accounting with Business based at the Greater Manchester Business School, University of Greater Manchester. Her work focuses on the intersection of technology enhanced learning and student partnerships. Nurun’s responsibilities include overseeing and advising on academic integrity, technology enhanced learning and generative AI to enhance pedagogical practices within her department. Nurun founded the open education platform TIRIgogy CPD series for equitable access to professional development in Higher Education and has published and presented her research work widely at several national and international conferences alongside invited guest talks on the topics of digital literacy, pedagogical partnerships, use of generative AI and technology enhanced learning. Her recent work involved leading a whole institution collaborative project supporting AI and digital literacy skills development for all students including pre-arrival students in tertiary education
