Our highlights of 2019

A new decade is here, which is a sobering, yet exciting prospect for us all here at Vevox. We have a LOT we want to achieve in 2020, but before we crack on, let's just recap and really appreciate some of the highlights of 2019, submitted by the Vevox team.

We became Vevox

We started 2019 with a different name, and 12 weeks later, we emerged from the process as Vevox. This was a project filled with emotion yet full of practicalities.

Our new name doesn't feel new anymore, our customers love it, some have even adopted their own really cool take on it and it just feels right.

If you want to read all about the process you can do so right here.

Our team expanded

We added 6 new Vevox-ers to our clan and we welcomed people back from maternity leave. It's wonderful to add new faces to the team, and we're sure there will be more in 2020!

A busy calendar

2019 was our busiest year for events EVER, with 15 events in one quarter alone. We added some new events to our calendar, and we travelled around the UK and even visited Belgium for The FRESH Conference and Barcelona for CanvasCon.

We also became members of the Institute of Internal Communications (IoIC) and supported Voice Live by providing the Vevox app for delegates to interact throughout a hugely valuable and informative day.

A firm favourite in our list is Event Tech Live, where our video wall (supplied by the awesome team at London Audio Visual) was back in action.

Catch up with what went down in our video.

We're on a global scale

We've worked with international clients from day one, but 2019 saw us working with more global corporations, enterprises and Universities. Being ISO and GDPR compliant, having a world class customer success team and providing the highest, independently rated polling and Q&A app on the market, means that we are THE choice for organisations and institutions all around the world.

Making it happen

At the heart of everything is our product. In 2019 we brought you a new-look present view, an improved dashboard design, more polling types in our PowerPoint add-in, and a new poll type.

We also launched our partnership with the virtual learning environment (VLE) Canvas, and we made one of our most popular features, the word cloud poll type, available for use to all customers on our free education plan. Accessibility also formed a part of our product roadmap and we are committed to working to WCAG 2.1 AA standard. You can read our statement here

Major Milestone

In September, we threw a little party as we celebrated reaching a whopping 500 reviews on the review platform Trustpilot. There was cake, balloons and we even made our own GIF to mark the occasion!

We're hugely proud to reach this total, each review is verified and is a great source of feedback for us. Our team often receive a special mention from our reviewers which makes everyone feel appreciated and proud of what we do.

Letting our hair down

By now you've probably noticed that we covered a lot of ground in 2019, so it's only fair that we had some down time. In August we were all treated to a day out at the races and we visited our local racecourse, Goodwood.

We all dressed up for the occasion, the weather was on our side and we all had a fabulous day out as one big team. It's a day that still gets talked about now, so we know it was a hit!

Staff development

Not only do we focus on developing our product, we also care about growing our team's experience and confidence. Our business development manager, Neil and one of our customer success team, Louis, both put themselves in our customer's shoes by running, facilitating and hosting Vevox sessions on stage at events, both in the UK and abroad. I also took to the stage and delivered my first ever speaker session at Event Tech Live.

Being responsible

Sitting nicely alongside staff development, we also initiated our Volunteering Time Off policy as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitments. This means that each one of our staff can take a day’s paid leave to help a charity or worthy cause.

We also remain wholly committed to reducing our impact on the environment, by using KeepCup's and providing sustainable giveaway's and prizes such as our very popular co-branded Chilly's bottles, bamboo fibre cups and our new T-Shirts.

Socially speaking

Last year was also a busy year for PR coverage, with appearances in CEO Today and Forbes to name just two. Our customers also saw some coverage and we've shared these case studies on our website. In 2019, more of you contacted us via social media, uploaded pictures of your Vevox sessions and tagged us in your posts which was amazing, so please do keep it up. Our twitter handle is @Vevoxapp and we'd love to hear from you.

Phew, I think that's 2019 covered! 2020 is already off to a great start with our 'even more awesome' free business account. As ever, if you need to get in touch you can reach us on hello@vevox.com

Wishing you a great 2020 from all of us at Vevox!
